Veganism has become a big lifestyle change for many in the UK and around the world. One of the most challenging parts of becoming a vegan is dining out. You don’t want to force your beliefs on your friends but you also don’t want to go hungry. Where do you go for a delicious meal that satisfies everyone?! Luckily, there are a great selection of restaurants in London that not only cater to vegans, but many that only serve vegan and vegetarian dishes. Here is a list of some of my favourite:
Ethos
Conveniently located between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road, Ethos offers a variety of food options that clearly labels specific dietary requirements such a vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free.
It is served in a premium buffet manner and you pay based on the weight of your dish. Prices vary depending on how much you put on your plate but if you’re smart about the foods you pick, you can come out of the restaurant feeling full and satisfied with a guilt-free conscious and money still in your pocket.
Cook Daily
Vegans and non-vegans alike love Cook Daily. This Southeast Asian restaurant is open daily in Boxpark and is filled with young and trendy East-Londoners who come for the great food and even better atmosphere.
All dishes are served in bowls and come in generous portions so you get the most for your money. It is also easy to customize dishes so you can tailor your meal to your taste buds. If you haven’t been to Boxpark in Shoreditch yet, head over there this weekend – you won’t regret it.
Mildred’s
Mildred’s is London’s most famous vegetarian restaurant for a reason. Its international menu is available to only non meat eaters, with the vegetarian dishes having the option to be vegan. Due to its popularity, there are now three open locations in London: Soho, Camden and Kings Cross.
The only downside to this delicious and atmospheric restaurant is that you can’t book in advance. It is so popular that I once had to wait an hour for a table for six people, but it is always worth the wait.
The Mae Deli
Although this cute West London café serves good food, its fame comes more from the owner than from the food. You have probably heard of Deliciously Ella who has numerous plant-based cookbooks in stores and has a massive cult following on social media.
Ella used food to cure her declining health, and since changing the way she sees and consumes food, has not only healed herself, but has created a whole brand around this. The food and juices aren’t cheap, but the deli is very cute and if you’re lucky you can see Ella in the flesh and also pet her adorable dog!
