Shopping: Low Cost Perfect White T-Shirts

Finding the perfect white T-Shirt is more difficult than it sounds. There’s always that small annoying logo or the material is really sheer but you couldn’t tell in the fitting room light or the sleeve is so tight you can’t hide sweat marks. Finding the perfect basic requires research, time, and lots of trying on. This is an item that should be trans-seasonal and last as long as possible so you need to find the best balance of shape, material, fit and price. Right now there are a lot of good options and my favourite white T-Shirts at affordable prices are the following.

Urban Outfitters

Although Urban Outfitters is notorious for big logos and slogans, BDG (one of their in-house brands) is good for subtle basics.

BDG has a couple of good crew neck shirts with no logos, good length sleeves (not too short or tight) and thick enough cotton that you can’t see through to your bra, and they are selling for a bargain price of £16 or two for £25 (so you can get one white and one black).

There’s also an oversized white T-shirt from BDG that is perfect for lounging, with a longer sleeve and a looser fit. It’s ideal for chilled out weekends or house parties but a little bit more expensive at £26.

Zara

This season Zara has a lot of white T-Shirts and they’re at surprisingly low prices. Sometimes Zara can be a bit expensive but I was pleased by the prices and options they have in store. For a cut that’s a bit more stylish there’s a cute cropped crew neck white T-shirt. It isn’t too cropped and comes up just above the belly button so it’s perfect with high waisted jeans or a flowing skirt.

It’s also a bit more special than your standard cotton T-Shirt as it’s made from 95% viscose so it’s much lighter for summer. For £5.99 how could you not buy it? For a more special white shirt, you can get a double-layer tulle shirt for £17.99.

It’s a bit more expensive than the basic T-Shirts but this white shirt with a subtle tulle bodice design is great for more of an occasion.

Rapanui

Rapanui is a smaller sustainable brand from the Isle of Wight but with perfectly affordable basics for all your summer needs. You can get an organic cotton T-Shirt for £12.50. That’s cheaper than Urban Outfitters and better for the environment.

There are lots of men’s and women’s T-Shirts and tank tops available in a range of colours. And if you really love the balance of a good fit and sustainable cotton, you can get a 3-pack of different colours for £25.00 or a 5-pack for £35.

That’s an absolute steal.

Bershka

There is a great oversized white T-Shirt from Bershka right now for £7.99. What I love about this cut is that it looks more like you’re wearing your boyfriend’s T-Shirt than buying something deliberately baggy and oversized, so it looks very cool and casual.

I’m not usually a fan of turned-up sleeves but Bershka got this shirt just right as it has a nice thick cotton, the turn-up sleeves are subtle, and the length of the shirt hits just slightly below the hips (to hide any builders’ bums). It also has a relaxed neckline that’s super comfortable.

At a steal price of £5.99 Bershka is a great place for basics.

COS

It is no surprise that Cos has a ton of basics as that is what they’ve made a brand on. They have a range of white T-Shirts with different cuts from V-necks, to ¾ length sleeves, to classic crew necks, to ‘close fit’ (tight), to round neck.

There’s also a variety of materials so you can choose between a classic cotton T-Shirt and a silk jersey depending on how you want the shirt to fit and feel.

Prices start at £12 and go up to £40 so it’s best to go into a store and try out the different cuts and feel the materials to see what’s best for you.
