Football: RamboFYI’s Premier League Predictions

Predictions time! This weekend is a cracker with some big names up against each other. For predictions there are some testing games for those teams which don’t want to lose points. Kicking off with Liverpool v City sets the scene, a testy challenge for Chelsea and Spurs.

Liverpool vs Manchester City

predictionsThe early kick off this weekend is probably the game of the week. Manchester United is the only club that has started the season better than the Reds, and City’s somewhat shaky start combined with Jurgen Klopp’s unbeaten record against the top six will give Liverpool the edge.

Philippe Coutinho is back for Liverpool and Pep Guardiola will be without Kyle Walker. Klopp’s record has pushed me into predicting a narrow and enticing home win.

Prediction: 3-2.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth

predictionsIt’s all gone wrong at Arsenal again and the season hasn’t even really started. Bournemouth has started the season with three losses but hasn’t played badly in any of the opening games. Predictions are for a new Arsenal formation.

The Gunners will need to take advantage of the poor start made by the seasiders but if Arsene Wenger doesn’t start Alexandre Lacazette up front, expect a riot from the Arsenal fans. It’s going to be a tight game with a frosty atmosphere but another defeat for Bournemouth is incoming.

Prediction: 1-0.

Leicester City vs Chelsea

predictionsThere’s going to be a lot of booing at the King Power stadium with Danny Drinkwater expected to appear for his new club. Alvaro Morata has looked a powerhouse up front for Chelsea and Leicester’s leaky defence won’t be able to keep him out.

Eden Hazard is also expected to return after playing for Belgium and that will be enough to see the Blues over the line.

Prediction: 1-3.

Southampton vs Watford

Image result for virgil van dijkThese two sides have been unpredictable so far but have a lot of potential to cause upsets this season. Watford took a shock exit in the League Cup at the hands of Bristol City and Southampton was beaten at home in the cup by Wolves.

Settling down the transfer mess of VVD and finding some form is key for the Saints who are struggling for goals and Watford looks organised enough to take a point.

Predictions are for a tight game with no goals..

Prediction: 0-0.

Everton vs Spurs

Image result for rooneyThis is set to be a cracker. Last season’s meeting between these two at Goodison Park (which ended 1-1) had more shots on goal than any other game in the league.

Rooney should have gotten through his hangover but Deli and co have the pace.

Spurs will be happy to avoid playing at Wembley but Everton has started the season extremely well with three wins out of three at home in all competitions.

Prediction: 1-1.

Brighton vs West Brom

Image result for pulisWhen you’re lacking goals, the last team you want to play is West Brom. Brighton is yet to score in three league games this season and doesn’t really look like it’s got many goal-poachers.

A failed last-minute bid to sign Vincent Janssen is a clear indication that the Premier League newcomers are out of ideas already. Tony Pulis and Co. probably had the best transfer window possible and I’m expecting a big season from the Baggies.

Prediciton: 0-1.

Stoke City vs Manchester United

Image result for pogbaExpect goals and a lot of them. Although Stoke don’t have many goals so far this season, the Potters have created a lot of chances. At the opposite end, United can’t stop scoring. It’s just a matter of time before Mark Hughes’s side finds its mojo in front of goal and his record against the Red Devils isn’t as bad as you would think.

United are still working out the forward formation but having Pogba more forward gives way more space and time for Lukaku, Martial, Lingard and Rashford attack.

His teams have scored in all but two games against United and I’m sure that will continue this weekend.

Prediction: 1-4.

Burnley vs Palace

predictionsThe Eagles don’t look like they will be scoring any time soon as Burnley has shown signs of taking the season by storm and becoming the surprise package of the campaign.

While Burnley looks set to overachieve, Palace looks likely to underachieve this season.

Frank de Boer is smart manager but without Wilfried Zaha he will struggle for an attacking option.

Prediction: 2-0.

Swansea vs Newcastle

predictionsSwansea had an astonishingly good transfer window and Newcastle had a shockingly dry one. The Welsh club looks to have lost its key man in Gylfi Sigurdsson and replaced him with two wonderful players in Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony whereas the Magpies don’t seem to know what’s going on.

The Swans will be fired up and ready to get their season properly started and I suspect Newcastle will continue to search for some rhythm.

Prediction: 2-0.

West Ham vs Huddersfield

predictionsSlaven Bilic’s days as West Ham boss seem to be numbered with Roberto Mancini lurking. Huddersfield has started the season better than anybody would have imagined with two wins and a draw from its opening three games.

The managerial problems and shoddy defence will cost the Hammers on Monday with Huddersfield playing the counter-attack game to perfection as it did on the opening day against Crystal Palace.

Prediction: 1-2.
