Keeping Fit in London While Enjoying the Views

Sometimes, just making the decision to workout isn’t enough to get you to roll out of bed and get sweating. What we have come to realise though, is that when you’re scrolling through endless images on Instagram, it’s those photos that catch London from the most perfect angle which makes you fall in love with the city over and over again. So we figured, that if we put together those epic London views that we have come to know and love, maybe, just maybe that would make it a little easier to get outside and get our workout on! Here’s what some of London’s top bloggers shared with us…

Yoga at The Shard (Sky Garden /Tower Bridge)

viewsThrow down your mat on the viewing gallery (levels 69-72) of The Shard in London Bridge to get your namaste on. Organised by Yogasphere, the classes offer not only panoramic views of London, but a chance to drink in the view after class, before the rest of the tourists ascend in the lifts!

It’s a gentle, flowing yoga, suitable for all abilities. Plus they do a evening class on level 24, to see all of London light up as the sun sets. (Natasha, Dance Flow Lift – www.danceflowlift.com)

If you’re after more yoga in the clouds, sessions are also held way up high in (yes, we said in) Tower Bridge and at the Sky Garden, 37 floors up to catch the sunrise and get some breakfast before you take on your day. All of these are perfect opportunities for a stand out post-workout selfie!

Greenwich Park

How about a run in Greenwich Park for views over London Docklands? (Stephanie, Life At 139 – www.lifeat139a.com). We feel like we should warn you about some of the hills in the area, but hills do make for great views, right?! And Bethan tells us that the view from the top of the hill at Greenwich, makes running all the hills in the park worth it (Bethan, A Pretty Place To Play – http://www.aprettyplacetoplay.com)

Primrose Hill

viewsWhether you want to do your own thing or to just follow along with a session organised by Project Awesome the views at Primrose Hill in North London are the perfect motivation.

The hill itself, a green, undulating space which we’ve been advised to not look back whilst walking (or running?!) up. From the top, you’ll be able to see London Zoo beyond Regents Park all the way into the city itself. in the summer, Primrose Hill may be packed with picnicking locals so you might want to make the most of the space to yourself while the temperatures are still al little on the low side.

Marriott County Hall Gym

Located right next to the London Eye, you’ll find this gym with a view! Extending over part of the 5th and 6th floor of the building, you can run on the treadmill whilst watching the pods of the London Eye going round and round. You can also spot Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament just across the street. (Joanne, Opposable Thumbs – Www.opposablethumbsblog.com)

This gym is also home to an indoor 25m heated swimming pool which is one of only a few in London to enjoy natural daylight.

Battersea Park

viewsWe couldn’t have a location that didn’t include the River Thames and this one does not disappoint. The River itself is great to run along with different things to look at every few yards however, the view from Battersea Park itself is perfect for an outdoor workout or a run around the space. The park also boasts a Pagoda along the riverside and a cafe in the centre of the park where you can tuck into your superfoods smoothies.
