There’s a Lettuce Crisis and Black Market?

Bad weather in Spain, we can’t blame Brexit yet, has believe it or not caused a ‘Lettuce Crisis.’  Specifically acute problems surround the iceberg lettuce which is in short supply. ‘Tesco and Morrisons launched a crackdown preventing customers from buying more than three iceberg lettuces at a time after their supply was cut by 80pc due to storms in Spain’ according to news reports.

Amazing what we learn from these things and as we tool up for Brexit, now we know that Britain doesn’t grow enough lettuces today to satisfy the needs of the people, but Spain does. Why doesn’t Britain grow enough lettuce? It’s not the weather as you can grow anything in greenhouse. What are we going to do when Brexit does hit and makes lettuce even harder to get?

So rain in Spain (which falls mainly on the plains) now means lettuce shortages which then amounts to ….. Lettuce Black Markets! Yes, a black market in lettuce has emerged. One punter in West Midlands is offering a dozen lettuces for only a £50. You’re dreaming! Also ‘Why is parliament silent on lettuce crisis – don’t they give a toss?’
