Yes that’s right, 97 US technology companies including Facebook, Uber, Apple, Google, Microsoft have linked arms and filed suit against Trump’s attempted immigration ban on people from specific countries. They collectively filed a brief with the courts who over the weekend refused the Government’s request to have the temporary ban overturned.
The 97 companies, who are referred to as Amicus Curiae. Latin for “friend of the court” make the claim that the Order represents a significant departure from the principles of fairness and predictability that have governed the immigration system of the United States for more than fifty years—and the Order inflicts significant harm on American business, innovation, and growth as a result. The Order makes it more difficult and expensive for U.S. companies to recruit, hire, and retain some of the world’s best employees. It disrupts ongoing business operations. And it threatens companies’ ability to attract talent, business, and investment to the United States
Of course all of these companies would be aware that going against President Trump and his clan of ‘make America great again-ers’ is not a decision you take lightly. But hey, normal in the US ended a few weeks ago. May the lawyers get rich!
