Netflix Go: What to Watch on Your Commute to Work

With the long awaited launch of ‘Netflix Go’ finally coming into fruition at the back end of 2016, we as commuters finally have access to many of our favourite movies and shows whilst on the way to work.

This now leaves us with the question of what we should watch now we have the accessibility? Well I hope to be able to help with that question below as I try and guide you through some of my favourite series to watch on ‘Netflix Go’

netflixNumber one for me, and possibly my favourite Netflix series of 2017 thus far would be ‘Abstract: The art of design‘ this is a documentary series much like the critically acclaimed Netflix original ‘Chefs Table’ however this time we get an intimate glimpse into the lives and working practices of some of the industries top designers in their perspective field. Visually spectacular and equal parts interesting and inspirational this is great way to get yourself motivated for the day ahead during your commute.

My next suggestion would be ‘Master of None‘ although this series was originally released late 2015 the long awaited second series is set to release this year, so this gives you plenty of time to binge on the first series on your way to work in anticipation of the second. The show centres on Dev Shah played by American funny man ‘Aziz Ansari’, a 30 something actor living and working in New York whilst trying to figure his life out. This show is as affecting as it is funny, with plenty of poignant moments that ooze reliability to anybody who isn’t sure of the next step to take in his or her career/life. A position that I’m sure many of us have fallen into at one point or another.

Avec Eric is a quirky food/travel series, which centres on the adventures of chef Eric Ripert as he travels the globe in search of good food and good wine to match. We follow Eric as he meets the locals of places he visits as well as Eric getting his hands dirty trying to capture the essence of the place he’s visiting through its fresh produce. Eric is a great host, a friendly face and a calming demeanour that really made this an enjoyable and light-hearted watch. Perfect for after work as a bit of inspiration as to what to cook for dinner.

Now my next choice isn’t particularly new, however the option to download and watch the show on the go has given me a reason to re-watch all 9 series over again. Peep Show, the offbeat comedy that follows the lives of two socially awkward 30 something’s Jeremy and Mark ‘Robert Webb and David Mitchell’ as they try to navigate they’re way through life, perpetually holding each other back, but completely inseparable. Their generally dismal lives are sure to make you feel better about your own circumstances and give you a chuckle in the process. This is quite possibly one of the best British comedies ever (bold statement I know) but one I stand by. With episodes only 22-24 minutes long this is the perfect pre/post work pick me up.

The above is just a very small selection of what ‘Netflix Go’ is offering, but I believe this to be some of very best. I hope you enjoy these shows as much as I did. Nathan Walcott
