Morrisons Recall a ‘Meat-based Product’ Peppered Beef

Let’s be clear on something, Morrisons is not recalling burgers, meat pies, chops or lasagna, they just announced they are recalling a ‘meat-based product’ because you might get anything from flu -like symptoms to meningitis.’ WTF is it and what’s in it?

morrisonsThe meat-based product is actually Ready to Eat Peppered Beef Slices. So if you happen to have these in your freezer, either take them back to Morrisons or throw them in the rubbish bin.

Morrisons heard from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) who told them the Ready to Eat Peppered Beef Slices contained listeria monocytogenes which can cause Listeriosis.  If you eat these tasty Peppered Beef Slices and get infected, on the mild end of the spectrum, expect the sudden onset of fever, chills, severe headache, vomiting, and other influenza-type symptoms and up 12 bowel movements per day.

In rare cases the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications such as meningitis. It’s worse if you are over 65 years old, pregnant, have babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

All this in a tasty, ready to eat meal costing a cheeky £4 pounds. You can still shop for them and products like them at ASDA and other fine food outlets. Just do yourself a massive favour and go to a butcher.
